WoW Forever Is Giving Undead Paladins Their Own Class Mount — Meet the Forsaken Charger

One of the things I’ve always loved about old-school WoW is when your class actually feels like a class.

Back in Classic, Paladin didn’t just walk up to a random vendor and buy their best mount. You started with the Warhorse and eventually worked toward the iconic level 60 Charger through a proper class quest. Warlock had a similar thing with their Felsteed and Dreadsteed.

It made reaching level 60 feel like you had actually earned something connected to your character.

And WoW Forever is bringing that feeling back — this time for Undead Paladins.

Blizzard has confirmed that Undead Paladins will have their own Epic Mount quest at level 60, and the reward is a brand-new class mount: the Forsaken Charger.

And just look at this thing.

The Forsaken Charger fits the Undead Paladin fantasy surprisingly well. It keeps that recognizable Paladin warhorse silhouette, but almost everything else has been twisted into something much darker. Black armor, heavy golden plating, torn cloth and an overall design that looks like something a fallen knight of Lordaeron should actually be riding.

It doesn’t feel like Blizzard simply recolored the original Charger. It looks like a mount made specifically to tell you what an Undead Paladin is supposed to be in Forever.

Redemption vs. Retribution

This is probably my favorite part.

Traditional Alliance Paladins earn their epic Charger in the name of Redemption.

But Undead Paladins ride in the name of Retribution.

That’s Blizzard’s actual theme for their level 60 mount story, and it fits these characters ridiculously well. The Undead Paladin storyline follows former Paladins of Lordaeron who are now trying to understand what it means to wield the Light while being undead — while other Forsaken don’t exactly trust them either. Their story is tied closely to Bandarion Keep in the Whispering Wood of Tirisfal Glades.

So this isn’t just a new race/class combination with a horse thrown on top.

There’s actually some story behind why these Paladins exist and what makes them different.

How Do You Get the Forsaken Charger?

The important part is simple:

Reach level 60 on an Undead Paladin and complete their special Epic Mount questline.

The current WoW Forever database already contains Summon Forsaken Charger, which requires level 60.

Current beta datamining also associates the mount with a quest called Justice and Retribution. Since that information comes from the beta client rather than Blizzard’s final release documentation, the exact quest name or requirements could still change before launch.

What we don’t have yet is a fully confirmed final walkthrough with every NPC, required material, gold cost and quest objective.

And honestly, I’m glad Blizzard appears to be keeping an actual quest here instead of simply putting the mount on a trainer.

Class quests like this are exactly the kind of thing that made Classic characters feel memorable.
